Jim Applegate
Jim Applegate serves as Vice President and Chief Corporate Sales, Strategy, and Specialized Freight Officer of Landstar. He is responsible for Landstar’s corporate sales and marketing efforts, strategic growth initiatives, specialized freight offerings, and business development. He also works closely with other Landstar leaders to ensure emerging technologies align with the business needs of independent Landstar agents and capacity providers in serving customer transportation logistics needs.
Since joining Landstar in 2009, Applegate has served in a variety of roles, including business development, business solutions, and corporate sales. He was promoted to Executive Vice President of Business Development and Analysis in 2014, and just four years later, to Executive Vice President of Business Intelligence and Strategy. Applegate was appointed to his current role in 2024.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wayne State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. He also completed the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Applegate and his wife, Michelle, live in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and have three adult children.
